How to Create Skills in the Skills Tracker
Prerequisite: To create skills in the Skills Tracker, you must have administrator or manager permissions in your account.
The Skills Tracker is an incredible feature that allows you to curate and customize skill roadmaps tailored to your industry and team. From job-specific skills to technical abilities, certifications, and more, this tool lets you organize and track everything. It also houses all approvals and certifications within the app for easy reference.
Follow these steps to create skills in your Skills Tracker:
Step 1: Navigate to the Skills Tracker
- From your home screen, tap the hamburger icon (three horizontal lines) in the top-left corner.
- In the menu, select Skills Tracker.
- You’ll now see the Skills Tracker home screen.
- If this is a new account and you’re an administrator, your screen will be blank but will have a button labeled "Add Topic".
Step 2: Add a Topic
The Skills Tracker is organized using a topic and subtopic structure.
- Tap "Add Topic."
- Enter the name of your topic. For example, let’s create a topic called "OSHA Certifications."
- Select "Create Topic."
- You’ll now see the new topic, "OSHA Certifications," in your Skills Tracker.
Step 3: Add Subtopics to Your Topic
- Tap the topic you’ve just created, such as "OSHA Certifications."
- Tap "Add Subtopic" to start creating detailed subtopics for the topic.
- For "OSHA Certifications," let’s add the following subtopics:
- Forklift and Telehandler Certifications
- Fall Protection Certification
- For "OSHA Certifications," let’s add the following subtopics:
Add anything you really want! Each subtopic represents a specific skill or certification that employees can track and get approved.
Step 4: Create Another Topic (Optional)
You can also create new topics to cover other skill categories. Let’s try an example:
- Tap "Add Topic" and name it "Blueprint Capabilities."
- Add the following subtopics:
- Beginner Blueprint Certified
- Intermediate Blueprint Certified
- Advanced Blueprint Certified
- Expert Blueprint Certified
With this structure, you can outline any skill, ability, or attribute relevant to your business. These topics and subtopics provide a clear roadmap for employee growth and certification.
What Your Workers Will See
When workers access their Skills Tracker, they’ll see all the topics and subtopics you’ve outlined. They can:
- Submit items for approval.
- See what skills have been submitted
- And see what items have been approved and by who.
