How to "Assign Tasks" in the W.E. App
Before assigning tasks, make sure you have already created a job with tasks. If not, check out our guide: [“How to Create Jobs in the W.E. App”] to get started.
Step 1: Locate Your Job
Once your job is created, it will appear in the Pending Jobs section of the Job Board. Now you’re ready to assign tasks. In the app, there are two ways to assign tasks:
- From the Team Task Board – Ideal for managers.
- From the Job Jacket – Allows more specific job details and task assignments.
Step 2: Assign Tasks from the Team Task Board
- Go to the Home Screen and select Team Tasks.
- In the upper right corner, tap “Assign Tasks”.
- A new page will appear showing the list of jobs. Select the job you want to assign tasks for.
- This will open the Job Jacket for the selected job.
- Navigate to the Phase you want to assign tasks for and then select the specific Task to begin assignments.
Step 3: Create or Select Departments and Crews
If you’ve already set up your Departments or Crews, you’ll be prompted to select the team members to assign the task.
- If you haven’t created departments or crews, you need to create one before assigning tasks:
- Select Create Department.
- You’ll be taken to the Company Page > Departments Tab.
- Click “Create Department” and give your department a name. For example, we’ll name ours “Field Crew”.
- Once the department is created, select the department and click “Add Users” to assign people to it.
- You can always:
- Remove users,
- Create new departments, and
- Add users as needed in this section.
- After setting up the department, click the hamburger menu (three lines) in the top-left corner and select Home to return to the task assignment screen in team tasks or in the job jacket.
Step 4: Assign Tasks to Individuals or Teams
- Back on the Task Assignment screen, select the department, crew, or individual(s) to assign the task.
- Once you’ve made your selections, tap “Add Tasks” at the bottom of the screen.
Step 5: Confirm Assignments
- If you assigned the task to yourself, it will show up under your “My Tasks” board.
- If you assigned it to someone else, it will appear on the Team Tasks board.
